Moral Particularism (Paperback): Harding Ozihel Moral Particularism (Paperback)
Harding Ozihel
R786 Discovery Miles 7 860 Out of stock

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Moral particularism is the view that there are no moral principles and that moral judgement can be found only as one decides particular cases, either real or imagined. This stands in stark contrast to other prominent moral theories, such as deontology or utilitarianism. In the former, it is asserted that people have a set of duties (that are to be considered or respected); in the latter, people are to respect the happiness or the preferences of others in their actions. Particularism, to the contrary, asserts that there are no overriding principles that are applicable in every case, or that can be abstracted to apply to every case. According to particularism, most notably defended by Jonathan Dancy, moral knowledge should be understood as knowledge of moral rules of thumb, which are not principles, and of particular solutions, which can be used by analogy in new cases.

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Indian Mujahideen is a terrorist group in India, that has claimed responsibility for several attacks against innocent targets in India. Believed to be a "shadow amalgam of the SIMI and Lashkar-e-Toiba," the Indian Mujahideen have been declared a terrorist organization. However, no decision had been made to ban the organisation as of 28 September 2008. Investigators believe that Indian Mujahideen is one of many groups composed of lower-tier SIMI members. According to the Indian Intelligence Bureau, SIMI took new titles because the top leadership of SIMI have been detained and would be available for interrogation. The change in names is also believed to signal a change in tactics as SIMI-affiliated militants attempt to garner more support from India's Muslim community rather than be seen as a group consisting of foreigners

Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting (Paperback): Harding Ozihel Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting (Paperback)
Harding Ozihel
R880 Discovery Miles 8 800 Out of stock

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) is a common side-effect of many cancer treatments. Nausea and vomiting are two of the most feared cancer treatment-related side effects for cancer patients and their families. In 1983, Coates et al. found that patients receiving chemotherapy ranked nausea and vomiting as the first and second most severe side effects, respectively. Up to 20% of patients receiving highly emetogenic agents in this era postponed, or even refused, potentially curable treatments. Since the 1990s, several novel classes of antiemetics have been developed and commercialized, becoming a nearly universal standard in chemotherapy regimens, and helping to better manage these symptoms in a large portion of patients. Efficient mediation of these unpleasant and sometimes crippling symptoms results in increased quality of life for the patient, and better overall health of the patient, and, due to better patient tolerance, more effective treatment cycles.
