The Expendables 2
Triple bill of swashbuckling Egyptian adventures. In 'The Mummy' (1999) Brendan Fraser plays Rick O'Connell, an American who discovers Hamunaptra, the city of the dead. He is driven away by locals and arrested. Three years later, Englishman Jonathan (John Hannah) discovers an ancient artefact which he gives to his sister Evelyn (Rachel Weisz). In turn, she trades the artefact for Rick's release from prison and the trio set off for Hamunaptra, hoping to arrive there before Beni (Kevin J. O'Connor), Rick's crooked former associate. However, Beni has already invoked a curse which frees Imhotep, a supernaturally-gifted mummy. He pursues the adventurers across the land, feeding upon the flesh of unfortunate explorers. He aims to sacrifice Evelyn, hoping to resurrect another evil mummy... In the sequel, 'The Mummy Returns' (2001), Rick (Fraser) and Evie (Weisz) have now settled down to married life in London with their 8-year-old son, Alex (Freddie Boath). Meanwhile, the British museum is playing host to the corpse of Imhotep. When ancient magic brings Imhotep back to life, a chain of events is set in motion that will lead to the end of the world, thus forcing Rick and Evie to dust-off their mummy-defeating skills once again. Finally, in 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' (2008), the ruthless Chinese Dragon Emperor (Jet Li) and his vast army of warriors have been frozen in time, cast in clay, waiting for their moment to rise again. When young archaeologist Alex O'Connell (Luke Ford) is duped into bringing the ancient warlord back to life, he soon realises he has to call in the only people he knows with experience and knowledge of how to battle the undead - his parents, father Rick (Fraser) and mother Evelyn (Maria Bello). As the emperor attempts to reunite with his massed warriors and finally fulfil his dream of world domination, Alex and his family, along with mystical, high-kicking sorceress Zi Juan (Michelle Yeoh) and a rival cast of undead, have to pull out all the stops to keep the evil tyrant from achieving his ends.
Liu Jian (Jet Li) is a Chinese government agent who has been sent to France to assist in the arrest of a Chinese heroin smuggler. But when he arrives he is framed for murder by corrupt French police detective Jean-Pierre Richard (Tchéky Karyo) and forced to go on the run in a bid to prove his innocence. When he meets Jessica (Bridget Fonda), a prostitute whose daughter Isabel is being held captive by Richard, Liu offers to get Isabel back if Jessica will help expose Richard's corruption. Jessica agrees and much martial arts mayhem follows.
Taking off the wraps once more, but this time the action moves to China for round three of the Mummy adventure. For 2,000 years the ruthless Chinese Dragon Emperor (Jet Li) and his vast army of warriors have been frozen in time, cast in clay, waiting for their moment to rise again. When young archaeologist Alex O'Connell (Luke Ford) is duped into bringing the ancient warlord back to life, he soon realises he has to call in the only people he knows with experience and knowledge of how to battle the undead - his parents, father Rick (Brendan Fraser) and mother Evelyn (Maria Bello). As the emperor attempts to re-unite with his massed warriors and finally fulfil his dream of world domination, Alex and his family, along with mystical, high-kicking sorceress Zi Juan (Michelle Yeoh) and a rival cast of undead, have to pull out all the stops to keep the evil tyrant from achieving his ends.
Jet Li stars in this action fantasy film based on an ancient Chinese legend. Young physician Xu Xian (Raymond Lam) falls in love with a beautiful woman when she saves him from drowning, but unbeknownst to him she is in fact Madame White Snake, a thousand-year-old snake demon (Shengyi Huang) appearing in the guise of a woman. Sorceress Fa Hai (Jet Li), realising White Snake's true identity, vows to destroy her in a bid to protect Xu Xian and save his soul - but she has underestimated the power of White Snake's love for Xu Xian.
Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham and Arnold Schwarzenegger reprise their roles in this action sequel. Barney Ross (Stallone) comes face-to-face with old nemesis Conrad Stonebanks (Mel Gibson), with whom he originally formed the group of mercenaries known as the Expendables. However, when Stonebanks turned into a dangerous arms trader, Barney had no choice but to take him out and believed him to be dead - until now. With some new, younger additions to his team, Barney once again confronts Stonebanks but will the mission be a success this time? The ensemble cast also includes Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Wesley Snipes, Randy Couture, Harrison Ford and Kelsey Grammer.

The O'Connells must combat their deadliest enemy yet: a resurrected Emperor and his unstoppable legion of 10,000 warriors, woken from a 2,000 year-old curse and hungry for brutal world domination.

Triple bill of Chinese historical action dramas. 'The Warlords' (2007) tells the story of a trio of warriors in the era of the Qing Dynasty - General Ma Xinyi (Jet Li), Cao Er-Hu (Andy Lau) and Zhang Wen-Xiang (Takeshi Kaneshiro) - who make a pact of brotherhood to one another vowing that anyone who harms one of the brothers will be killed. When the country is plunged into chaos and political upheaval following the Taiping Rebellion, the three blood brothers must struggle to maintain their loyalty as war rages around them. 'The Banquet' (2006) is a bloody epic about court intrigue in China's Five Dynasties period, loosely based on Shakespeare's 'Hamlet'. The setting is an ancient Chinese kingdom, where malice and treachery rule. The latest turmoil arises with the sudden death of the emperor. Suspicion falls on his ambitious brother Li (You Ge), who takes the throne as well as his brother's young, beautiful wife, Empress Wan (Ziyi Zhang). The only obstacle in his path is his brother's son, Prince Wuluan (Daniel Wu), a melancholy youngster who harbours a sexual longing for his stepmother and has consequently exiled himself to a colony in the wilderness. When the new emperor's ninja assassins reach the colony the prince barely escapes with his life. Returning to the palace, he is at once embroiled in schemes, counterschemes and suspect declarations of love. The film climaxes at a late night banquet where murder is the main dish on the menu. In 'Battle of Wits' (2006), warrior Ge Li (Lau) holds back the forces of marauding general Xiang Yanzhong (Ahn Sung-ki) in 370 B.C. China. During the civil war period of China's history, from the fifth to the third century B.C., the Zhoa state sets out to conquer the small city state of Liang. As the invaders near the city, the fearful inhabitants beg for help from the local Mozi warrior clan but fear for the worst when only a single, solitary warrior, Ge Li, comes to their aid. All is not lost, however, as Li proves himself to be a master tactician, convincing the doubting townsfolk that they can repel the invaders. As the battle lines are drawn, Li, with the help of two local fighters, defies the odds and prepares for one last decisive battle.
Barney Ross leads the "Expendables", a band of highly skilled mercenaries including knife enthusiast Lee Christmas, martial arts expert Yin Yang, heavy weapons specialist Hale Caesar, demolitionist Toll Road and loose-cannon sniper Gunner Jensen.

Once there, they meet with local rebel Sandra and discover the true nature of the conflict engulfing the city.
When they escape the island and Sandra stays behind, Ross must choose to either walk away and save his own life - or attempt a suicidal rescue mission that might just save his soul.
