Collection of contemporary gangster films. In 'Mean Streets' (1973) four Italian-Americans from New York's lower East Side hang around at a local bar. Charlie (Harvey Keitel), the most responsible of the group, tries to protect his girlfriend's cousin, Johnny Boy (Robert De Niro), from the local debt collectors, but his young charge seems determined to live fast and die young. Heavily influenced by the French New Wave, 'Mean Streets' provided the first high-profile success for director Martin Scorsese and star De Niro. In 'Scarface' (1983), up-and-coming gangster Tony Montana (Al Pacino) arrives in Miami as a Cuban refugee. With his friend Manny (Stephen Bauer), Tony carries out a hit on a politician, earning him the gratitude of drug dealer Frank Lopez (Robert Loggia). Tony rises rapidly in the 'organization', but courts disaster when he becomes involved with Lopez's cocaine-addicted wife, Elvira (Michelle Pfeiffer). In 'Carlito's Way' (1993), Carlito (Pacino) is a Hispanic drugs boss just released from prison. Determined to go straight and move to the Bahamas with his girlfriend, Gail (Penelope Ann Miller), Carlito is tempted back to the wrong side of the law by his lawyer, nerdish coke-head David Kleinfeld (Sean Penn), for 'one last job'. Brian De Palma directs this visually eloquent film about a man's inevitable tragic demise with his familiar penchant for the big set piece and violent action. In 'Casino' (1995), Sam 'Ace' Rothstein (De Niro) is the mob's frontman for a billion dollar Las Vegas casino. The story begins in 1973; Ace falls for hooker Ginger McKenna (Sharon Stone), while boyhood companion Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci) is appointed as his muscle at the club. Over the years various jealousies surface and erupt in a series of violent betrayals and, ultimately, the destruction of Rothstein's empire. In 'American Gangster' (2007), when his boss dies, underworld driver Frank Lucas (Denzel Washington) seizes his chance and begins to build his own criminal empire. Utilising the bodies of dead US soldiers, Lucas begins importing heroin direct from South-East Asia, increasing purity on the street, and undercutting his rivals in one swoop. Before long he's amassed a fortune, bringing him to the attention of maverick policeman Ritchie Roberts (Russell Crowe), an honest cop in an otherwise corrupt force, who makes it his business to shut Lucas down. Finally, in 'Public Enemies' (2009), set in 1930s gangland America, Johnny Depp stars as the charismatic bank robber John Dillinger. Dillinger's audacious raids and subsequent jailbreaks thrilled the American public as their sympathy for the banks that had plunged the country into Depression reached an all-time low. Despite his status as a folk hero, Dillinger was declared 'Public Enemy Number One' by J. Edgar Hoover (Billy Crudup) and became the prime target of Hoover's fledgling FBI, headed by Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale). Marion Cotillard co-stars as gangster's moll Billie Frechette.
The first six movies from the popular street car-racing franchise and a behind the scenes look at the upcoming sequel 'Fast and Furious 7' (2015). In 'The Fast and the Furious' (2001) undercover cop Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) is assigned to the Los Angeles illegal street racing scene to search for the criminals behind a string of hijackings. His prime suspect is Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), whose passion for Japanese fast cars is only matched by his enthusiasm for stealing hi-tech equipment. In '2 Fast 2 Furious' (2003), O'Conner (Walker) finds himself on the trail of another group of underground car enthusiasts. This time the location is Miami, where O'Connor has been making money out of street racing and is asked to bring down the drugs baron Carter Verone (Cole Hauser) in exchange for the wiping clean of his criminal record. In 'Tokyo Drift (2006), street racing loner Shaun Boswell (Lucas Black) avoids jail time by absconding to Tokyo to live with his uncle in a cramped apartment. In the land that gave birth to the majority of modified racers on the road, the simple street race has been replaced by drift racing, an even more deadly combination of brutal speed on heart stopping courses. Shaun inevitably gets drawn into the racing and the complexities of the underworld which surround it. In 'Fast and Furious' (2009) fugitive ex-con Dominic Toretto (Diesel) reignites his feud with agent Brian O'Connor (Walker) on the streets of LA. But as the two men find themselves facing a common enemy in the form of a heroin importer, their attempts to infiltrate his operation result in an unlikely alliance. In 'Fast and Furious 5' (2001) ex-con Dominic Toretto (Diesel) and his sister Mia (Jordana Brewster) are forced to enlist Brian (Walker)'s help once again as they find themselves cornered by a ruthless drugs gang in Rio de Janeiro. But the Rio gangsters are not the only ones on Dom's tail; wily federal agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) has also been assigned to track down Dom and Brian, and will stop at nothing to corner his prey. Finally, in 'Fast and Furious 6' (2013), following their lucrative Rio heist, and unable to return home, Dom (Diesel) and the rest of his compatriots are forced to kill time lying low in different locations around the world. When DSS agent Hobbs (Johnson) offers Dom and his crew full pardons in return for taking down Owen Shaw (Luke Evans)'s gang of mercenary drivers, the offer seems too good to pass. But as the rivals head for a showdown on the streets of London, Dom learns that Shaw's second-in-command is none other than his presumed dead former lover, Letty (Michelle Rodriguez).
Double-bill of creepy alien action as the two interstellar opponents square up on little old planet Earth. In 'Alien vs Predator' (2004), a team of archaeologists are sent to Antarctica when an unidentified heat source turns out to be a pyramid-like temple buried deep under the ice. Discovering an alien life-form present in the temple, events take a turn for the worse when a group of adolescent predators arrive, intent on collecting the skulls of the aliens, and any passing humans, as trophies. In 'Aliens vs Predator - Requiem' (2007), returning to their home planet with several alien captives and a dead comrade on board, two predator pilots are killed when an alien hybrid, unknowingly concealed in the body of their dead buddy, bursts forth. Before he dies however, the pilot manages to send off a distress signal to his home planet, where a predator receives it before heading off to Earth in response. The spacecraft meanwhile, has crashlanded in the woods of Colorado, spilling its deadly cargo, which immediately sets about culling the local population with extreme professionalism. It's not long before the predator arrives, unleashing another almighty killing spree, as he tries to stop the hybrid reproducing in quantities that will soon overrun the county.
Brooding big-screen adaptation of the classic 1980s television crime drama from director Michael Mann. Undercover Miami-Dade police detectives Sonny Crockett (Colin Farrell) and Rico Tubbs (Jamie Foxx) are summoned to help out on an FBI undercover operation that has gone disastrously wrong. Infiltrating a dangerous world of international drug dealers, somehow linked to a home-grown Neo Nazi group, Crockett and Tubbs pose as experienced criminals able to transport goods anywhere in the world. But as they dig deeper into the criminal underworld, Tubbs worries that the mission will be compromised as Crockett finds himself falling for drug dealer Jesus Montoya's (Luis Tosar) girlfriend, Isabella (Gong Li). When the two cops are sold out by a rival dealer in the operation, Crockett and Tubbs break cover and lead their team to a climactic, brutal show-down.
