It currently has thirty open National Rail stations, through there were once well over a hundred. Between 1959 and 1970 much of the network was closed, including more than two thirds of Norfolk's railway stations, several main lines and most of the branch lines - leaving only a core network in place. Several of the former routes have been re-opened as heritage lines such as the North Norfolk Railway and the Mid-Norfolk Railway.

The ornate ghost pipefish or harlequin ghost pipefish, Solenostomus paradoxus, is a pipefish of the family Solenostomidae found in the Western Pacific and the Indian ocean along reef edges prone to strong currents. They reach a maximum length of 12 cm. They vary in color from red, yellow to black and are almost transparent. They feed mostly on mysids and benthic shrimp. Females carry the eggs in their pelvic fins that are modified to form a brood pouch. Pipefishes or pipe-fishes (Syngnathinae) are a subfamily of small fishes, which, together with the seahorses, form the family Syngnathidae. Pipefish look like straight-bodied seahorses with tiny mouths. The name is derived from the peculiar form of their snout, which is like a long tube, ending in a narrow and small mouth which opens upwards and is toothless. The body and tail are long, thin, and snake-like.

Lambert M. Surhone, Miriam T. Timpledon, Susan F. Marseken
R954 Discovery Miles 9 540 Ships in 7 - 11 working days

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! In the mathematical field of set theory, an ultrafilter on a set X is a collection of subsets of X that is a filter, that cannot be enlarged (as a filter). An ultrafilter may be considered as a finitely additive measure. Then every subset of X is either considered "almost everything" (has measure 1) or "almost nothing" (has measure 0). If A is a subset of X, then either A or X A is an element of the ultrafilter (here X A is the relative complement of A in X; that is, the set of all elements of X that are not in A). The concept can be generalized to Boolean algebras or even to general partial orders, and has many applications in set theory, model theory, and topology.

In computing, Generic Mapping Tools (GMT) is an open-source collection of tools for processing and displaying xy and xyz datasets, including rasterisation, filtering and other image processing operations, and various kinds of map projections. The software comes with a comprehensive collection of free GIS data, such as coast lines, rivers, political borders and coordinates of other geographic objects. Users convert further data (like satellite imagery and digital elevation models) from other sources and import them. GMT stores the resulting maps and diagrams in PostScript (PS) or Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) format. Users operate the system from the command line: this enables scripting and the automation of routine tasks. More or less comprehensive graphic user interfaces are available from third parties, as well as web applications, bringing the system's functionality online.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Sacred groves of India are forest fragments of varying sizes, which are communally protected, and which usually have a significant religious connotation for the protecting community. Hunting and logging are usually strictly prohibited within these patches. Other forms of forest usage like honey collection and deadwood collection are sometimes allowed on a sustainable basis. Sacred groves did not enjoy protection via federal legislation in India. Some NGOs work with local villagers to protect such groves. Traditionally, and in some cases even today, members of the community take turns to protect the grove. However, the introduction of the protected area category community reserves under the Wildlife (Protection) Amendment Act of 2002 has introduced legislation for providing government protection to community held lands, which could include sacred groves.

R917 Discovery Miles 9 170 Ships in 7 - 11 working days

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles 'Umar ibn Abi Rabi'ah (November 644, Mecca - 712/719, Mecca) was an Arabic poet from the modern-day country of Saudi Arabia. He is known for his love poetry and for being one of the originators of the literary form ghazel in Islamic literature. The ghazal is a poetic form consisting of rhyming couplets and a refrain, with each line sharing the same meter. A ghazal may be understood as a poetic expression of both the pain of loss or separation and the beauty of love in spite of that pain. The form is ancient, originating in 6th century pre-Islamic Arabic verse. It is derived from the Arabian panegyric qasida. The structural requirements of the ghazal are similar in stringency to those of the Petrarchan sonnet. In its style and content it is a genre which has proved capable of an extraordinary variety of expression around its central themes of love and separation. It is one of the principal poetic forms which the Indo-Perso-Arabic civilization offered to the eastern Islamic world.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Homeorhesis, derived from the Greek for "similar flow," is a concept encompassing dynamical systems which return to a trajectory, as opposed to systems which return to a particular state, which is termed homeostasis. The word itself is a little-used term of art in biology, where it describes the tendency of developing or changing organisms to continue development or change towards a given state, even if disturbed in development. The term was first coined by C.H. Waddington, on or before 1940, along with the related term chreod, meaning "necessary path," which is the trajectory to which the system tends to return. In ecology the concept is important as an element of the Gaia theory, where the system under consideration is the ecological balance of different forms of life on the planet. It was Lynn Margulis, the coauthor of Gaia hypotheses, who wrote in particular that only homeorhetic and not homeostatic balances are involved in the theory. That is, the composition of Earth's atmosphere, hydrosphere, and lithosphere are regulated around "set points" as in homeostasis, but those set points change with time.

With Halford he released a live album in 2001, Live Insurrection, and another studio album in 2002, Crucible. 2003 saw the release of a Halford EP called Fourging The Furnace, but in that year Rob Halford also announced he would return to Judas Priest. This looked like the end of the Halford band, so Patrick joined with former Pantera guitarist "Dimebag Darrell" Abbott and his brother, drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott in a new band called Damageplan, as their vocalist. Their debut album, New Found Power, was released in 2004.

R915 Discovery Miles 9 150 Ships in 7 - 11 working days

It is primarily known as a developmental stage theory, but in fact, it deals with the nature of knowledge itself and how humans come gradually to acquire it, construct it, and use it. Moreover; Piaget claims the idea that cognitive development is at the centre of human organism and language is contingent on cognitive development. Below, there is first a short description of Piaget's views about the nature of intelligence and then a description of the stages through which it develops until maturity.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Paper prototyping is a widely used method in the user-centered design process, a process that helps developers to create software that meets the user's expectations and needs - in this case, especially for designing and testing user interfaces. It is throwaway prototyping and involves creating rough, even-hand sketched, drawings of an interface to use as prototypes, or models, of a design. While paper prototyping seems simple, this method of usability testing can provide a great deal of useful feedback which will result in the design of better products. This is supported by many usability professionals. Paper prototyping saves time and money since it enables developers to test product interfaces (from software and websites to cell phones and microwave ovens) before they write code or begin development. This also allows for easy and inexpensive modification to existing designs which makes this method useful in the early phases of design.
