My First Bible Stories is an ideal introduction to the Bible for the very young. Marie Allen's charming illustrative style creates warmth throughout the book, and the Bible stories are carefully told to show the structure in the Bible. The spiral binding makes this book easy to hold open or lay down flat so little children can point to the pictures.
The beautifully illustrated tales in this collection are all short and sweet. The cute pictures allow children to help tell each story along with their grown-up helper. There is plenty to laugh about together, and these tales are an ideal way to set kids on the path toward reading. From a naughty new puppy to learning how to play a musical instrument, children will be able to engage with these narratives. Others deal with the first day of school, bathtime fun, bright nightwear, a fairy who helps people sleep, and a mammoth mountain of cuddly toys. The final story in the book is designed to help kids to wind down and relax, ready to enjoy a good night's sleep.
Wipe clean and start again Seventy-two pages of wipe clean fun activities with a short Bible story at the top of each page and the related activity below.
Help children learn while discovering their favorite Bible stories through mazes, dot to dots, spot the mistake, and many more. The laminated pages can be wiped clean for use again and again and includes a felt-tip pen so children can get started right away.
In 1943 two spirited young teachers decided to do their part for
the war effort by spending their summer vacation working the swing
shift on a B-24 production line at a San Diego bomber plant.
Entering a male-dominated realm of welding torches and bomb bays,
they learned to use tools that they had never seen before, live
with aluminum shavings in their hair, and get along with
supervisors and coworkers from all walks of life.

James Folk, MD and Mark Wilkinson, OD are professors at the University of Iowa. They are experts in the field of macular degeneration, and they are not being paid by anyone to recommend anything. They treat patients with age-related macular degeneration almost every day, perform research that explores the causes of AMD, attend scientific meetings, participate in treatment trials, and promise to tell you the straight scoop. They will tell you what scientists and doctors all over the world know about this disease, and, just as importantly, what they don't know. The first three chapters describe AMD along with the latest science which yields clues to what causes it. You need to understand the disease in order to fight it. The last six chapters tell how you can fight back to save your vision. They will talk about changing your lifestyle, eating the right foods, and taking multivitamins with zinc along with other medications which may reduce the risk of vision loss. They will discuss the latest treatments for the wet form of AMD, including new ones that have not yet been approved but show promise. They will also talk about how to maximize your remaining vision and live as full a life as possible. You can fight back to save your sight. Drs. Folk and Wilkinson will tell you how. Endorsements "The field of age-related macular degeneration is exploding with new research and treatments. It is impossible for patients, or even eye doctors, to keep up on the latest findings and treatments. Drs. Folk and Wilkinson are experts in this field and have the exceptional ability to communicate difficult information in a simple, straightforward style. This is a great book on AMD for the patient and eye careprovider and I highly recommend it." - Edwin Stone, M.D., Ph.D., Professor of Ophthalmology, Howard Hughes Medical Investigator, University of Iowa "Even though I've had macular degeneration for more than ten years, your book taught me a lot of new information. It's very easy to read and understand. I liked the glossary because I can look things up and get my questions answered quickly. I thought the video was excellent to actually see what patients like me go through. I think everyone who has this disease, (and their families and doctor), would benefit from this book. Thank you for sending it to me." -RM, a retired teacher and patient with age-related macular degeneration "I'm a busy vitreoretinal specialist and see many patients with age-related macular degeneration. This book presented the latest on research, medical and surgical treatment, and low vision. It also explained where the research and treatment was going in the coming five years and how to keep up-to-date with the new findings. I recommend this book to anyone who takes care of patients with AMD. The book will be especially valuable to my patients who can learn what to do to reduce their chance of losing vision and improve their quality of life." -Denise L. Kayser, MD, North Bay Vitreoretinal Consultants

New First Steps in Latin is the first book in a three-book series designed specifically for middle or high school students. The texts employ a minimum of explanation of grammatical principles, concentrate on essential grammar and morphology and on the syntax of simple, compound, and complex sentences. The focus on learning is through numerous examples. The series offers students a complete graded introduction to Latin and grammar. It can be used alone, as a main text supplemented by readings and cultural material, or as a supplementary grammatical work text for a reading-oriented course.
Each book consists of 30 lessons intended for a year-long course in Latin. Taken together, the three books form a complete course for grades 7-9 or 6-8. Vocabulary in the series is based on Cicero, Vergil, Ovid, and Pliny. After completing New Steps in Latin, students will be ready to read these or other unaltered Latin authors.New First Steps (grade 6 or 7): conjugations 1-4, active and passive voice; declensions 1-5; simple sentences.New Second Steps (grade 7 or 8): participles, infinitives, relative clauses, indirect statement; complex sentences; connected reading.New Third Steps (grade 8 or 9): uses of the subjunctive, gerund and gerundive; excerpts from Caesar, "Bellum Gallicum."
