Triple bill of foreign horror films. In 'Them' (2006), a couple have to fight for their lives when an assault on their home turns deadly. The story opens with the murder of two Romanians, a woman and her young daughter, who crash their car along a rural road and are promptly butchered by a shadowy figure. Meanwhile, in Bucharest, schoolteacher Clementine (Olivia Bonamy) climbs into her car and drives to the isolated mansion that she inhabits with partner Lucas (Michael Cohen), not far from the site of the murders. Soon the couple overhears someone stealing their car, but a call to the police accomplishes little. The lovers gradually realise that an outsider is attempting to break into the house with homicidal intent. Patrick Syversen directs 'Manhunt' (2008), co-written by and starring Nini Bull Robsahm. When a group of friends go on a countryside camping trip, they are hunted down and systematically murdered in the deep dark woods by three crazed men after picking up a terror-stricken hitchhiker. In 'Cold Prey' (2006) a group of teenagers are holed up in a deserted hotel. While snowboarding in the mountains of Norway, five teenagers have to find shelter quickly when one of their party breaks a leg. With no phone reception, and light fading fast, they see a hotel off in the distance and decide to head for it. On arrival the place is deserted, with no phone lines to the outside world, but with no other options available, the friends settle down for the night. Things take a turn for the worse when they discover a room in the basement where Norway's most notorious serial killer has been staying.
Norwegian action thriller set in the aftermath of the Black Death. Norwegian crime thriller in which a young man attempts to explain how winning a jackpot on the pools with his friends led to chaos. The film opens with Oscar Svendsen (Kyrre Hellum) surrounded by armed police and dead bodies. He is taken into custody, and attempts to recall, for the benefit of Inspector Solar (Henrik Mestad), how he ended up in the situation; Oscar used to work as a supervisor at a factory, where he became friendly with a group of ex-convicts, Billy (Arthur Berning), Thor (Mads Ousdal) and Dan (Andreas Cappelen). The four decided to enter a syndicate together and won a fortune and, as in so many cases, the money ultimately led to despair rather than happiness - though perhaps rarely in such a spectacular and brutal fashion. Solar listens to the tale with a growing sense of incredulity; how much is fact and how much is fiction?
Pål Sverre Hagen stars in this Norwegian action adventure film about the Norse myth known as 'Ragnarok'. In order to discover if there is any truth in the myth that predicts the end of the world, archaeologist Sigurd Swenson (Hagen) goes on an expedition with his children and two of his colleagues. Their journey leads them to 'no man's land' between Norway and Russia which has been left untouched by humans for centuries. Here they examine old runes and make new discoveries about the legendary tale.
