Silk - How And Where It Is Produced (Paperback)

Silk. How and Where It Is Produced. FOREWORD Little did I think, when putting pen to paper with the purpose of recording in permanent form some notes gathered together for a talk to our local branch of the Textile Institute, that these might be serving a useful purpose for many years to come, but so it is. Many are the new fibres devised by the ingenuity of chemists during those years, but the charm and the mystic of silk have not been rivalled. Several reprints have been introduced revisions in an attempt to keep abreast of new developments and new technology. Never was this publication intended as a text book, but it was hoped that within this small compass silk users and indeed the general public might find something of interest. Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.
