They were presented to us by the Clerk, with an application accompanying the petition to the Council to have bonds issued for them, was signed by John C. Peay. Q. Do you know whether or not that John C. Peay was the recent late Deputy Treasurer under Gen. Churchill? A. Such was the belief of myself and the Finance Committee at that time. EVIDENCE OF MR. FARMIN. Arlow Farmin, being duly sworn, testified as follows: Examined by Mr. Judkins: Q State what position you now hold, if any. A. I am Deputy Auditor of the State. Q. As such, you have the custody of the records of the Auditor's office? A. Yes, sir. Q. State whether or not you have in your possession the 'Register of the City Bonds of the City of Little Rock. A. Yes, sir; I have a register of the bonds that are registered in the Auditor's office. I have a record of them here; it is a record of the Auditor's office. Q. I wish you would turn there and examine as to bonds numbers four and fifty-seven of the City Railroads, the Memphis and Little Rock. A. (Having examined the record), I have it, sir. Q. State whether or not bond number four is registered there? A. Bond number four does not appear to be I'egistered. Q. It does not? A. It does not.
