This book looks at the Franco-Jewish novel in the first few decades after the Second World War. Beginning with Elie Wiesel's autobiographical narrative ALa NuitA (1958) there is discussion of a total of seven novels and stories by Ashkenazi and Sephardi writers. Central to the study's concerns is an inquiry into the existence of a specifically Jewish sub-genre within the overall range of the modern French novel.
