A Collection of Short Tails (Hardcover)

There is an old Urban Legend that reminds us that all small animals existing in our back yards, fields, and anywhere they can find room, really do understand humans. Now I know this is true because as Ms. Beatrix Potter once said, "I made it up " The animals lose the ability to understand humans when they {humans} become adults, but get along very well with small children. Of course, small children in turn can also understand the animals. This is the same way children can see fairy people, giants, and even trolls. Animals like bunnies, squirrels, chipmunks, and the like are easy to talk with if you are a child. It seems when we grow up we lose our ability to imagine and believe, usually because we are so busy with daily chores. Now some of us never grow up, Ms. Potter, Peter Pan, and me {to name a few }. This is the first story of such friendships I tell my grandchildren.
