Not illustrated. 1817 Excerpt: ...peerage by patent, dated July 17, 1727, by the titles of haron osKillard, and viscount Galway. He served in the English parliament sor Clitheroe, 1722, and 1727; and sor Pontesract, 1734, 1741, and r747. In 1734, he was appointed one of the commissioners of revenue in Ireland; and, in 1748, surveyor-general of the crown lands in England and Wales. Hedied July 15,1751, and was succeeded by his eldest son, William, second viscount Ga'way, who, in 1747, was chosen member of parliament sor Pontesract; and, in 1748, appointed receiver general of the crown and feefarm rents in the counties of York, &c. In 1749, ne was elected member of parliament sor Thirsk; in 1769, he assumed, by sign-manual, the name of Arundel, in pursuance of the injunction of the will of his maternal aunt, lady Frances Arundel, widow of Richard Arundel, only brother of John, lord Arundel of Trerise, and sister to John, duke of Rutland. His lordssiip died Nov. 18, 1772; and was succeeded by his eldest son, William Henry, third viscount Galway; who dying, unmarried, March 2, 1774, was succeeded by his only brother, Robert Moncton Arundel, sourth viscount Galway yyho was born 1752; served at one time in parliament sor the city of York; and, in 1784, was appointed comptroller of his majesty's household. He afterwards enjoyed the honour of the knight, hood of the Path; and dying July 23,1810, was succeeded by his eldest son, William George, sifth and present vis, count. His lordship was born March 28, 1782, and married, June 4, 1804, Catharine Elizabeth, daughter of the late captain George Handsield, and niece of sir William Smith of Hill-hall, in Effex, bart. by whom he has four fons.
