Keating's Cyclopaedia of the Diseases of Children which was completed some few years ago was a work which perhaps did more than any other work to place pediatrics upon the pedestal which it now occupies. In this work the author was most ably seconded by Dr. William A. Edwards. Keating died and it almost seemed as if the void thus made would never be filled; but his able assistant has, with the aid of most competent men, produced a supplementary volume which is a credit to its authors and a fitting addition to the original work. It is in itself an independent work of more than ordinary value and could easily stand by itself. It is a contribution to the literature of pediatrics which, we have no doubt, will induce those who possess the first four volumes to re-read them, and act as an incentive to those who do not possess them to acquire them. We are more than pleased with this volume, both on account of its completeness and the thoroughness in which all subjects have been brought up to date. To give but a slight conception of the nature of the work it is but necessary to mention a few of the authors and the subjects of which they treat. A most able article is that on Disease of the Stomach by the late William Pepper, who is the only one of the large list of contributors to the volume who has died.
