Editor Medical Brief: --In reply to Dr. D. T. Hyatt's inquiry in this month's Brief, I would say, that having no convenient solvent for santonine, we have to do the best we can in its administration, as it is one of the best and most reliable anthelmintics at our command. Since more than twenty years I have prescribed it, with invariable success, in the following form: R. Santonin.(mixed intimately with about same weight of sugar) 16 grains. Rad valerian, plv 16 grains. Rad. sanguinar 12 grains. Extr. sen. fluid 6 drachms. Tinct. rhei simp 6 drachms. Syrup rub. id 1 ounce. Aqua 1 ounce. Ol. erigeron.....'. 2 drops. M. Exactiss. Dose: one tablespoonful to one teaspoonful according to age, after shaking well, to be given at bedtime; the next morning another dose every two hours till slight laxative effect. HOARSENESS AFTER DISEASES OF THE SKIN. The following is an almost infallible cure in from three to twelve days. R. Ammon. muriat. plv 3 drachms. Surr. liquirit 3 drachms. Sulph. aurat. antiun 6 grains'." Sulph. praicipit (lac sulph) 1 drachm. Ext. hyosam. sic 6 grains. Ipecac plv 6 grains. Acid benzoic 1 scruple. Semin. foenicul pulv 2 drachms.
