Paul LaVinn was an American football, basketball, and baseball coach and sports figure in the United States. LaVinn was the twelfth head college football coach for the Carthage College Redmen (now called the "Red Devils") located in Kenosha, Wisconsin and he held that position for the 1945 and 1946 seasons. His coaching record at Carthage was 2 wins, 10 losses, and 1 tie. LaVinn started out with a win against Parsons College in Iowa and outscored opponents by 59 to 46 in his inaugural 1945 season, but ended up with a winless season in his second year of coaching. While at Carthage, LaVinn also coached the baseball team in 1947 to a 2-7 record, and found somewhat more success as the men's basketball coach for three seasons from 1946 until 1948 with a record of 26 wins and 37 losses. LaVinn was the seventh head college football coach for the Eureka College Red Devils located in Eureka, Illinois and he held that position for four seasons, from 1949 until 1952. His career coaching record at Eureka was 5 wins, 22 losses, and 2 ties. This ranks him 13th at Eureka in total wins and 13th at Eureka in winning percentage.
