Excerpt: Leon Trotsky (Russian: ), Ukrainian: (Lev Davidovich Trotsky, also transliterated Lyev, Trotski, Trotskij, Trockij and Trotzky) 7 November 1879 21 August 1940), born Lev Davidovich Bronstein (Russian: ), was a Bolshevik revolutionary and Marxist theorist.
