Excerpt: Aleksandra Georgievna Chudina (Russian: ) (November 6, 1923 in the village of Kramskaya, Kurkinsky District, Tula Oblast October 28, 1990) was a Soviet athlete who competed in many different field events. She trained at Dynamo in Moscow. She competed for the USSR in the 1952 Summer Olympics held in Helsinki, Finland in the Javelin throw where she won the Silver medal, Long Jump where she also won a silver medal and placed third in the High Jump for the bronze medal. On May 22 1954, she broke the world record in women's high jump in Kiev with a jump of 1.73 meters, breaking the previous record of 1.72 meters which had been set in London by Sheila Lerwill of Great Britain.
