Not illustrated. 1755 Excerpt: ... the Manor House, and dying Anno 1661, was here buried, leaving Issue two Sons, viz. Edward, who died at Oxford, December 13, soon after his. Father 1661 % and George, who dying also unmarried in June 1693, this Estate by Intail descended to the Issue of his elder Brother, and is now, Anno 1735, the Property of Richard Grenvill of Wotton, Esquire, Member of Parliament for the County Town of Buckingham, who is the present Lord of the Manor and Patron of the Church. The Advowson has always continued appendant to the Manor. This Parish is bounded South, by Moreton, West by Stow, North by Akeley, and East by Leckampsted andThornborough, and contains about 600 or 700 Acres. The Church here consists of a Body, and Chancel, which are tyled; at "the West End is a small Wooden Turrit rough cast, supported by the Walls and Roof of the Church. In the Turrit (which is covered withLead) hang two small Bells.--The Feast follows November 6, St. Leonard'sDay, nd the Church is dedicated to that Saint. Here are no Monuments or Inscriptions whatsoever, except these two on ocdinary Stones in the Chancel. The first of which has on a Plate of Brass, this Inscription fixt on the Stone: Hie jacet Edwardus Grenville, Filius natu tertius Rich ardi Grenville, Armigeri, de Wotton Underwood, in hoc Comitatu Bucks, qui natus ' suit 12 Die Septembris 1614, denatus 17 Die Aprilis 1661." r Ex Informatione Rectoris de Foxcote.
