John Robert "Jack" Meyer (March 23, 1932 - March 9, 1967) is a former professional baseball player. He was a right-handed pitcher over parts of seven seasons (1955-1961) with the Philadelphia Phillies. For his career, he compiled a 24-34 record in 202 appearances, most as a relief pitcher, with an 3.92 earned run average and 375 strikeouts. Meyer, who was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, collapsed from a heart attack while watching a basketball game on television and died later at the Jefferson hospital in Philadelphia. Meyer, who was 34 years old, had a history of heart problems. He left a wife and 3 children. He was an alumnus of Wake Forest University.
