This study is an attempt to gather into a single collection the sculptured portraits of Greek statesmen from the earliest stages of Greek history down to Roman times, to bring together the theories expressed before the publication of Bernoulli's standard work Griechische Ikonographie, as well as the numerous identifications proposed since that time; and finally to revise some of the prevailing theories in portraiture. The Contents are divided into the following Sections: Hellenic Statesmen; Alexander the Great; and Hellenistic Statesmen.
