Insomnia. You climb into bed, turn off the light and close your eyes, but you can't fall asleep. For most of us it's just one annoying night, but for people with 'fatal familial insomnia' it is the beginning of the end. A genetic disease passed down through generations, its primary symptom is sleeplessness and within months the victim is dead. Lack of sleep will kill you, but why? And is there a cure?
