Krum Ivanov Georgiev (born May 24, 1958) is a Bulgarian chess Grandmaster, born in Pazardzhik. He beat Garry Kasparov in a wild game in Malta, 1980. Georgiev earned the International Master (IM) title in 1977 and International grandmaster (GM) title in 1988. Chess is a two-player board game played on a chessboard, a square-checkered board with 64 squares arranged in an eight-by-eight grid. Each player begins the game with sixteen pieces: One king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and eight pawns.
