I'm afraid not. (Throws "Punch" back on armchair.) Liptrott (warming.) Most interesting. They have some most curious customs there. The women Penelope (moves to up c, breaking in). Please, Mr. Liptrott, I have to go to Betty--could I take her any message? Liptrott (recalled to earth--Preedy takes out cigarettes and matchbox--smokes during following--having finished breakfast). Ah yes--yes, of course. Let me see--(rises, goes up to L. of Penelope)--there was something. Ah yes--I remember. Will you please tell her that if she approves we--I mean--I--would be very glad to hold a little service--say to-morrow--something quite short. We had not the pleasure of knowing Mr. Taradine, but Mrs. Taradine is--well--we all like her--we are sympathetic with her--I'm sure it would be generally desired. (penelope crosses, back of Liptrott towards door, Liptrott crosses to Preedy.) Something quite simple and short, you know. Preedy. Very nice indeed--very nice, eh, Rymill? Peter. Charming--charming.... Penelope. I'll go and tell her, Mr. Liptrott. Will you wait here? (Exit L.) Preedy (rises, puts chair in to table).
