RISE AND PROGRESS. It is difficult for those of us, who have taken up the Pomeranian as a fancy any time during the last ten years, to imagine a period, when Pomeranians were scarce in England, and were possessed by a very few owners. For twenty years, before 1890, the progress made by this breed in the public favour was slow, and it seemed at one time that he never would become popular. Nevertheless, after this year, he suddenly jumped into popularity, and ever since the formation of the Club in 1891 he has enjoyed an unbounded and unprecedented success. From receiving scant recognition at a few shows, he can now command not only the largest classification at all our important shows, but also the greatest number of entries.
