Of course Heaven is somewhat the easier place to find because it's right at home within yourself. But Honolulu requires an ocean trip, a few weeks of time and some cash, but why was this beautiful earth created if it was not to be seen and enjoyed by those of us who live on it? There are two persons in this world at least, Jack and I, who believe that to best appreciate the Creator, one must view His creation and this principle applies in every phase of life and with this thought in mind it is my purpose, both for my own satisfaction and the entertainment of my friends, to tell them something of the wonderful sights we saw, the delightful experiences we had and some of the interesting things we learned in our visit to Honolulu. The Steamer Niagara, upon which we 'had secured passage, was scheduled to leave Vancouver on the -ve'ning of January 13th, 1922, but did you ever hear of an ocean liner beginning a voyage on the 13th? The science of "ocean-ology" contains no such formula, and it was four a. m. January 14th when we started on our long voyage across the sea. The first years of our wedded lives were spent on the shores of Lake Superior, and the many trips we took on the great lakes in those days proved to us that we were good sailors, but just how we would perform on an ocean trip, after twenty years sojourn in arid territory, we did not know, and consequently had serious misgivings So I went prepared. In my grip, carefully stowed away, was an innocent looking but efficient and effective porous plaster..
