S(k)in (Paperback)

A stunning follow up to the controversial cult classic AROUSAL JAG, S(K)IN is a shocking, thrill-a-minute read by one of the most provocative writers today. What happens when a wet behind the ears college graduate and his girlfriend move in with his burnt out, agoraphobic, ex-Wall Street brother? Sin or skin? Warning: This book contains explicit and realistic sex scenes. It is not suitable for children under the age of 18. H. Rogers Clark does not exist. The name is a pseudonym. The author has lived in Manhattan and Brooklyn. A true Wall Street insider, he was a Director at a major financial services firm headquartered in New York City. His other works include AROUSAL JAG and SIGNS FOLLOW ON THE CHESAPEAKE. A Thesaurus Ink Review: I'm going to keep this as non-gushing as possible, but I've got to get it out of the way first, this is the fastest I've ever read a novel. I couldn't put it down. The thing just sped by. I started reading last night, and here I am, finished, and I haven't got the slightest idea where the time went. It's not my genre, it's not my type of book, but I loved it. Why, you ask? Because the author never once underestimated these characters. He never let them become caricatures. He understood that there are reasons for the things that people do, that they don't act in a vacuum. Especially Kim. She could have just as easily been the simple vixen character, but he portrayed her as someone who's been horribly abused in her past - that line about her father was chilling in her off-handedness. She's so damaged that she can't feel anything, and she hates Ty because he can't see that. She'd like to be the person he loves, but she isn't, and rather than simply getting away from him, she blames him for her own lack of self-realization. It's so sad, and so effective. The really amazing character, though, is Ty. He's the least screwed up of them all, but only because he's done the least amount of real living. He's just as damaged as Sid by their awful father, he just can't see it yet. Sid tries his best to warn Ty, but he can't bring himself to really do it - on some level he seems to want to punish Ty for having the chance he doesn't have - he'd like Ty to keep it all from going wrong, but at the same time, he thinks 'why should he have the chance I didn't?' Such a wonderful relationship. I loved the ending too, which I won't spoil here. Needless to say, I recommend this novel.
