A short story collection, comprising fourteen stories, the themes of which range the terrain of human experience – loneliness, madness and murder, betrayal, loss and longing – by a writer set to become one of South Africa's most significant voices. Many of the stories slyly detonates acts of violence: a young boy being confronted by a wounded gangster in the pristine corridors of a library; or when a man lies inexplicably bleeding on a pavement.
