I was perplexed as to the right course to pursue in a matter which concerned my future, when I unexpectedly met with a Christian gentleman, much older than myself, to whom I was induced by something in his manner, without any solicitation on his part, to unburden my heart. I had never seen him before but he listened quietly to my story, and then said: " I will give you my advice in a text of Scripture which years ago I chose for my motto in life, ' In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.' I am a plain business man [and as I afterwards learned he was a very successful one] and I never make any change in my business or enter upon a new enterprise without acknowledging God in it, and seeking His guidance and blessing, and ...
