So the second clause of the resolution was adopted. Hon. C. F. Clarkson, the veteran breeder, farmer and agricultural writer, whose disinterested and persevering labors for nearly half a century, to improve the farmer and his produots, has not been excelled, if equalled, by any other citizen, not being able to attend the meeting, has, by request, and acoording to programme, contributed the following paper: Evidently the Lord never intended all agriculturists should be pure bred stock breeders or raisers, any more than he did that all spiritual guides should all be apostles. Paul says, "and he gave some apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some pastors, and some teachers." It is plain to close observers of the human race that many persons in all departments of industry are trying to be apostles, when they should have known they are only intended for helps or at most as teachers. From the days of the sons of Adam, this adaptation to peculiar pursuits has been marked and that each man in this world is fitted for a peouliar station in life, or he is fitted for nothing. The latter is evidently too often the case. In the early history of our race it was at once known that Cain had a talent particularly calculated to till the soil and raise potatoes, cabbages and lentils, and to pick the ferocious canthares vitata from the rich and succulent pannang. But he was too fretfnl and vicious, and probably from the results was opposed to prohibition as abridging his personal liberty, and was therefore totally unfitted, unlike his brother Abel, to oare properly for those noble domestio animals the Shr...
