Mr. Patterson, a self proclaimed victim of circumstance, reaches a point of reflection in the alatter years of his mid-thirtiesa after a career in piracy. The story is set around the time of the Golden Age of Buccaneers in the early 1700as. The main character was swept away in his youth into the throes of the rover lifestyle. He has now reached a point where he begins to reflect and seeks to be absolved of any wrongdoing he may have engaged in. While searching for answers, Patterson gets initiated by a great mystic into a secret brotherhood of privateers who control the oceans from behind the scenes and battle bravely to keep the world safe. They have a cultish hierarchy that spans the globe and incorporates ancient wisdom that like Enoch and the prophet Elijah, allows them the possibility to cross the threshold between this world and the next without experiencing death. But first, the pirate brothers must complete their training and seek the esoteric teachings of the keepers of the Gates of Immortality.
