The two floors above contain samples of grain of all kinds from various parts of the world; specimens of agricultural produce of all climes; floricultural and horticultural exhibitions of every genus and class; mineral curiosities; specimens of native manufactures, particularly taTtans--with foreign implements, and curiosities brought from every quarter of the globe. From the courteous manners of the attendants, this has become the most pleasant lounge within the burgh, independent of the opportunity which it affords to visitors of procuring useful and rare articles, which, in many cases, cannot be obtained elsewhere. I say, by all means visit Drummonds' Museum. The Corn Exchange, King Street, is worthy of a visit, from its spacious and elegant appearance. There is no theatre or other place of amusement within the burgh. About sixteen years ago, a party of the Edinburgh company, under the management of Mr G. F. Stanley, had a temporary theatre in the Shore Road; and the party having included performers of well-known and acknowledged talent found the speculation a most profitable one. In the following year, however, it proved a failure, chiefly in consequence of the inferiority of the company. I have no doubt that an efficient company, for two or three months in the year, would be a great acquisition, and prove a source of considerable emolument to a spirited manager, as has been exemplified by Mr Lloyd's experiment this season. NEW PRISON. The Stirling new prison, finished in 1848, is situated near the top of St John Street, and enclosed within a high wall, varying from fifteen to thirty-one feet in height.
