And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after Me, is not worthy of Me. 6 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched, where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 1 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. 1 Blessed Paul saith, The time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; ofDavid also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they may obtain a better resurrection: and others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, ...
