Globonautes macropus is a species of crab in the family Potamonautidae, the only species in the genus Globonautes. It is found in Guinea and Liberia and presumably in Sierra Leone, and is listed as an endangered species on the IUCN Red List. It lives in tree hollows filled with water, in closed-canopy rainforest. True crabs are decapod crustaceans of the infraorder Brachyura, which typically have a very short projecting "tail" or where the reduced abdomen is entirely hidden under the thorax. Many other animals with similar names - such as hermit crabs, king crabs, porcelain crabs, horseshoe crabs and crab lice - are not true crabs.
