It lies approximately 10 kilometres (6 mi) north-east of K pice, 20 km (12 mi) south of S upsk, and 106 km (66 mi) west of the regional capital Gda sk. Before 1945 the area was part of Germany. Gmina K pice is an urban-rural gmina (administrative district) in S upsk County, Pomeranian Voivodeship, in northern Poland. Its seat is the town of K pice, which lies approximately 27 kilometres (17 mi) south of S upsk and 115 km (71 mi) west of the regional capital Gda sk. The gmina covers an area of 293.43 square kilometres (113.3 sq mi), and as of 2006 its total population is 9,688 (out of which the population of K pice amounts to 3,829, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 5,859).
