Considered a technique by skippers, flippers and quitters used to avoid trail miles, in that it usually provides an 'easier' way to reach a further point on the trail, eg by avoiding steep mountain ascents. This is generally looked down upon, when used to skip trail, though a roadwalk is an unavoidable part of some long trail systems, such as the partially unfinished Continental Divide Trail. This is not to be confused with "yellow blazing" - or traveling in a car instead of by foot. The Continental Divide National Scenic Trail (in short Continental Divide Trail) is a United States National Scenic Trail running 3,100 miles (5,000 km) between Mexico and Canada. It follows the Continental Divide along the Rocky Mountains and traverses five U.S. states - Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico. In Montana it crosses Triple Divide Peak which separates the Hudson Bay, Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean drainages.
