She won a bronze medal at the 1980 European Indoor Championships and the gold medal at the 1982 European Indoor Championships. She then won bronze medals at the 1982 European Championships and the 1984 Summer Olympic Games. Sabine Everts is married to athletics coach Hans-Jrg Thomaskamp. A heptathlon is a track and field athletics combined events contest made up of seven events. The name derives from the Greek hepta (seven) and athlon (contest). A competitor in a heptathlon is referred to as a heptathlete.
