He belongs to the Cambodian People's Party and was elected to represent Takeo Province in the National Assembly of Cambodia in 2003. Sok An is Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia. Cambodia has six cabinet members designated Deputy Prime Minister; however, the other five hold separate portfolios and Sok An is considered the "most senior," thus making his "first" job that of deputy prime minister. Sok An is of Hakka Chinese descent. In April and May 2009, the Khmer Machas Srok Newspaper published two articles accusing Sok An and his official entourage of corruption.
