This anthology is a compilation of the work of more than 170 poets under the age of forty who have already published at least one book with a trade, university, or independent publisher.

In an era of 'National Poetry Month' and of the 'Favorite Poem Project, ' it's probably not an original notion to set out to edit an anthology of younger poets. . . . But in fact it has been 25 years since poets in the 'under forty' age group have been comprehensively anthologized.
