4/5 stars I struggled with this book and I will try to explain why. The writing style captured my attention. The plot was interesting. The characters developed well. The emotional development of Cassia and the other characters were well developed. However, predictability was annoying. I forced myself to finish Book 1, hoping some twist will knock me off my feet. The story reminded me too much of Hunger games and the Insurgent series. This is usually the case an author will come up with a unique story and as soon as the story hits popularity level, many authors follow this trend bringing their own version into the dystopian world. There will be 50 stories about that rock, but it takes 50 unique stories, which make everyone different and enjoyable. In my opinion, todays stories in novels become too predictable and not unique in any way. Very much a clique factor. Just another dystopian novel or just another romance or action. Nevertheless, I am busy reading Book 2 and I am hoping a twist will bring me forth to swallow my words above.
