This title provides a personal account of a posting overseas with the British organization - Voluntary Service Overseas, commonly known as VSO. Matt Loney, a computer journalist by trade, had applied to the VSO following redundancy and heartbreak. He was given a posting to the village of Alotau in Papua New Guinea - a remote village in an even more remote country. Here he edited the local newspaper, the Eastern Star, produced against all odds on ancient computers. The book is a useful warning about the dangers of a VSO posting, as well as an enthusiastic advertisement for it.
