Today, Ali is chief of the homicide branch of the South African police in Cape Town. One of his staff is Brian Epkeen, a free-wheeling white officer whose family was originally involved in the establishment of apartheid but who works well with Neuman. Together they have to deal with crime that inevitably exists in sprawling areas of underemployed people, crime exacerbated by gangs, both local and from other parts of Africa. Their job gets even more difficult when the corpses of two young women are found.
A new evil has been introduced in the city and a new drug has been introduced to its residents, including both murder victims. At the chaotic crossroads where brutality and modernization collide, the echoes of apartheid still resound in the shadows of a society struggling toward reconciliation.

I was surprised to note that Orlando Bloom and Forest Whitaker starred as South African cops in this movie and straight out they did a fantastic job. The movie is gritty, it doesn't hold back on the crime in SA and speaks on more than one level. You have your "do everything by the book" cop and your "to hell with the rules" cop partnering up to discover a very warped, dark and disturbing secret. This is not your typical good cop/bad cop comedy drama, this movie will hit home with force. The great thing about this movie is that it doesn't have the Hollywood glamour. I am a big fan of Hollywood movies but this was so well directed and the cast so perfectly in tune with their characters that I watched the movie twice on DSTV and ordered two DVD's from Loot. It doesn't fall short at any point and I would definitely recommend it for anyone who is interested in crime or a great movie. I personally love Marvel, Sci-Fi, Pixar etc but this movie I definitely will add to my collection.
