GEOLOGICAL AND MINING SURVEY CONN AUGHT COAL DISTRICT. AMONG the many objects of interest, which attract the attention of the Geologist, none is more worthy of pursuit than the useful art of discovering and tracing mines. But it unfortunately happens, that this species of inquiry offers less variety to the scientific observer, than the more general investigation of the great field of nature; and it has in consequence been usually left to the guidance of mere practical miners, who are wholly unacquainted with the general relations and arrangem...
