Sprachnorm und Sprachqualitat im frankophonen Fernsehen von Quebec (German, Paperback)

The present study is a sociolinguistic examination of the French spoken in Quebec. It proceeds from the phenomenon of widespread depreciation in Quebec itself of the language variety used there. Such devaluation focuses increasingly on the language used on television, as this medium is attributed special responsibility for the dissemination of the standard linguistic norm. The results of the study indicate that Quebec television actually does fulfill this function, while at the same time reflecting social and linguistic diversity. This gives new urgency to the question of the causes behind this negative perception. - The study has been awarded the Prix d'Excellence du Gouvernement du QuA(c)bec.
