The book was fantastic - sad but true it all could have happened as written - well worth reading and the film would be so much better to see Not for the faint hearted - what did we do to our younger generation ? were we really so hard cold and heartless as to not feel for them ? Yes we had the death penalty , it worked as it was meant to , it was a deterrant to crime and should be reinstituted once again if only to give a means of ridding the country of the lawlessnes we have today - crime must not go unpunished , murder, rape and child ofenders should all know that there is a penalty to pay for thier actions A must see and read the book as well
