For Tito Pacheco, a few hands of poker seems a good way to pass
the time--until he is forced to kill one man to save another. Then
he finds the body on the trail, and has a second gunfight in a town
called Ivory Flats. About the time things seem as if they can't get
any worse, Tito is hitched up to a team of kids and running for the
sanctuary of Broken Spoke.
Baxter Puggot loved his kid brother. He vowed to see his
brother's killer dead, by any means necessary, and he had a
half-dozen men who could get the job done. Tito could run far and
dig himself a deep hole, but Baxter swore he would root him out and
see him dead.
Luke Mallory and the other men in Broken Spoke intend to stand
by Tito, but it could mean a war against up to a dozen hardened
bounty hunters. War meant bullets flying and some being hurt or
killed and none of the people in the valley wanted that.
Regardless, Luke knew they would stand by Tito. If Baxter Puggot's
gang came looking for a fight, he figured they would meet their
Destiny at Broken Spoke
