John Timothy "Jay" Johnston (born February 28, 1958 in Hamilton, Ontario) is a retired Canadian ice hockey defenceman. Selected by the Washington Capitals in the 1978 NHL Entry Draft, Johnston played eight games for the Capitals during the 1981-82 NHL season. Ice hockey is a team sport played on ice, in which skaters use wooden or composite sticks to shoot a hard rubber puck into their opponent's net. In regions where it is popular, the game is often referred to simply as hockey.
