Economic Laws of the PRC : A Philosophical Approach to Doing Business in China (Hardcover, 1998 ed.)

This volume sets out to correct misconceptions about doing business in China and with the Chinese, by examining China's economic law and legal system as well as her culture and political philosophy. The book was written with China traders in mind, and it aims to assist readers in formulating better business or trade negotiations with their Chinese counterparts. The author stresses two key elements in determining successful business relations with China: an understanding of modern Chinese business culture, and the concept of "selective culturalism" (developed since the October Revolution of 1949) - and sets out to explain them. The author highlights mistakes made by China watchers and sinologists, and illustrates what should be the appropriate approach in negotiating with industrialists, merchants and business people in China. This book should be of interest to lawyers, accountants, bankers, financial advisers, shippers, insurers and all businesses involved in trade with China.
