Any of Thorton W. Burgess's books are great reading for children. The stories are simple enough for children to relate to and will stimulate their imaginations as well as their appetite for books that are fun to read. Such gentle stories that give young children vivid pictures of the lives of animals. While the animals are given complex lives, the reader does really get an idea of how they live, where the live, what they eat, etc. And the stories are gentle, descriptive and lovely to read aloud.
