"And on the head" = top "of the base (cc'), half a cubit was the height (jj' or nn') round " = circular "about; and upon the head of the base were its hands (cje, c'ne'), and its closures (ff'i'i) were from it." Bem.--The pedestal (jj'n'n) was thus " round" and "half a cubit high" (jj' or cd). The shoulders are here called hands; two names, as usual, being given to the same thing. 36. "And he carved upon the tablets (acc'a"), the hands " = sides "of it, and upon the closures (ff'i'i) of it, cherubim, lions, and palmtrees (Fig. 5, PI.
