I nnderstand that yon have no knowledge of the charges of the lines on the Jersey side of the river for the general-order bnsiness?--A. I never know what the charges were. Q. And yon aro nnablo to compare them with the charges of Leet & Co. for similar services?--A. That is the ease. Q. I nnderstood yon to say that the general-order stores were also' bonded warehonses?--A. I believe they are; I cannot speak positively. Q. There is no reason why they shonld not be?--A. No; I think it is so. Q. I believe yon stated that when Canard & Co., one of tho lines, also had warehonses on the other side of tho river, when Cnnard & Co. had warehonses there which were bonded warehonses and also general-order warehonses, so designated by tho collector, they were able to take goods that remain on storago and in bond?--A. Yes, sir. Q. And if the storago paid their expenses they conld afford to make no genoral-order charge to the people who bronght bnsiness throngh their lino?--A. Yes, sir. Q.
