Inone, K.--Geology of the Southern Part of Ssing-king, China." Bull. Imp. Geol. Surv. Tokyo, Vol. XVIII, No. 2, 1905.' 45 p. (in Japanese). A brief summary of the geological reports of many Japanese geologists lately visited the land, carefully compiled by the author. The rock formations exposed there are as follows: 1. Gneiss system, making the foundation of the area. 2. Cambro-silurian system. Richthofen's Ta-ku-shan series is included under this head together with richly fossiliferous Sinian formation. 3. The younger formations deposited on the basins of these older ones, are Carboniferous and Jurassic systems, both with plenty plant remains. 4. Tho Pre-carboniferous rocks are pierced by dykes and stocks of granite and some other igneous rocks while the basalt flow of Kuan-tien basin is the most remarkable one of the younger eruptives. The mineral products now known to exist in the area are gold (mostly in placers), magnetite (found in the contact zone of Sinian formation and gabbro) and coal. The last occurs both in the Carboniferous and in the Mesozoic, those of Pen-hsi-hu, Wu-hu-tsui and Yen-tai belonging to the former and that of Sai-ma-chi to the latter. H. Yabe. 1021.
